PROSTITUTE YOU SAY? BE IT!
Everyone is alarmed and concerned: it seems Moroccan girls are prostitutes. How interesting!
It’s nothing new to me, I mean I heard many comments about this throughout the years, but strangely enough; it only came from Moroccan girls themselves. As a journalist, I traveled a lot; met people from the 6 continents (are they still 6?) but no one ever addressed the subject with me. I would always hear remarks like “Oh, I love Couscous”, or “I know how to say Choukghan.”
I personally never met a Moroccan prostitute abroad; I saw most of them in Blvd Mohammad V in Casablanca, in a very narrow street in Laayoun and in some other Moroccan cities. Is there anything strange about that? Nope, I’m sure every country in this world has its very own prostitutes.
Bear with me please, I’m not naïve, I do know there are Moroccan prostitutes in Dubai’s amazing hotels, others in Pigalle street or in the gorgeous L.A.
Yes, indeed, there are Moroccan prostitutes all over the world working with their “colleagues” from Romania, Russia, Iran, Egypt…. So why is it that we only talk about the Moroccan ones? Why do they get the biggest coverage?
Hmm, let me think. Could it be that they are simply unforgettable? Could it be that among 10 prostitutes from different countries, one tends to only remember the Moroccan one for some meticulously well-done job.
Well yes, I’m tired of defending, justifying or denying. I’m adopting another approach!
Prostitutes are from all over the world…but we tend to only remember the ..best ones; So, Hail hail our prostitutes!
Let me stop you right now, I’m not defending prostitution nor am I encouraging it. I’m just tired of hearing the same discussions, as if the world is in chaos because of some Moroccan girls doing one of the oldest job in human history!
A tasteless cartoon making fun of Moroccan girls, why not? Most of our programs have something satirical about Golf men.
However, it does hurt when it comes as an official declaration, banning young girls from their right to perform Oumra, or the “small Hajj”.
I’m not sure about how strong was the Moroccan official reaction to this non-sens decision, but let me share mine with all of you.
You, who speak in the name of God, do you remember that Allah says in the Muslim Holly book, the sacred Qur’an, that only a prostitute can marry another prostitute?
[…none shall marry an adulteress except an adulterer…] [Noor 24:3]
Rememeber that most of these Saudi or Emiratis men do write a paper stating that they’re marrying the girl for a limited time, a crooked way they came up with to convince themselves they’re not sinning. They’re so into obeying Allah’s laws!
So here we are with one Moroccan prostitute offering her Halal services to many Male (female?) Saudi or Emirati individuals, who automatically become, by the sacred law of God, prostitutes themselves.
Let’s do some math. Don’t we end up having more Saudi prostitutes than Moroccans, since many male can successively “marry” the same prostitute?
Why do I only talk about Saudis and Emiratis? Well, more and more dacebok pages, blogs are weekly created by individuals from these countries stating that all Moroccan girls are prostitutes.
One Saudi member proudly explained how he and his friends easily found a prostitute in Marakesh, and spent the night with her. “She was one Moroccan prostitute and we were three, marryng her one after one..hahahaha,” he says.
But hold on young man, she was indeed one Moroccan prostitute-only one- but you were, based on the verse mentioned above, three Saudi prostitutes with her..nyahahahaha.

What you mentioned is true, prostitution is a fact, undeniably an historic one. Why do others refer to Moroccan women as prostitutes is simply done by means of inference: When they come visit this beautiful country, they encounter some cheap women (sluts, whores, easy…the definition varies) and that makes them think that all women on this land are similar! Is it true? Not at all. Lots of women have dignity and pride, they would never venture through that alley, especially if it involves selling their bodies, others would do it just for fun or pleasure…however, it remains a personal choice. Do we have to generalise it? Absolutely not!! Let’s not forget that those people who use money to seduce women are only weak and incapable of being men enough to impress or have a healthy and normal relationship. Here is a piece of advice to anyone with a big mouth insulting my fellow country women: next time you decide to make a sex trip to Morocco, you’d better think twice before bringing your big fat ass over here, our ladies are not for sale!!
Excellent article qui traite d un sujet de societe avec bcp d humour et de derision. Bravo
let me tell you my discussion with an Egyptian who was trying to laugh about Moroccan prostitutes … my response to him was « in the last century Moroccan women were wearing the headscarf, nicab, hiding themselves when seeing men, while your wives kissing men and drink the whiskey in your shameful movies.FARID AL ATRACHE, ISMAHANE… » with all my respects to Egyptian women I know not all of them approves that.
this example is just to let you know that there is worse than us in this world.
Ismahane, a shameful woman in shameful movies? Oh please… At least they had some fun back then. Generations of women hiding from men under nicabs is not something to be proud of.
It is just another scenario to cover up…the reality…!! people from all over the world criticized Moroccan women and called them prostitutes…because of 2 things we should admitted…1st due to Islamic culture and values prostitution is prohibited religiously and refused socially… so when we see the percentage of Moroccan women who behave in such way…it is a strange thing to happen in Muslim country…2nd thing we should admitted that the high rate of poverty added to the french cultural effects in Moroccans in general…make such thing normal ….!! Moroccans lifted their religious values and principals early than any Muslim countries..they looked more modern , more developed than others…so the two factors mixed together and give us unique phenomena in Islamic world…!! but recently the last 10 years or so ..Moroccans discovered their religion again..and started to return back to the conservation again..especially intellectual women…!!!
